Keeping festivalgoers safe

Red Tent Logo Horizontal         logo
Every February, the Festival du Voyageur community reunites at Whittier Park as well as other locations in the city of Winnipeg to celebrate “joie de vivre” and the fur trade era. We believe that each individual, regardless of gender, ability, age, ethnicity or sexual orientation, should feel secure and at ease in our environment and be exempt of all negativity or prejudice caused by the actions or words of others.

We as an organisation, encourage freedom of expression and respectful discussion but not at the expense of others. All forms of discrimination, harassment, disorderly conduct or any behaviors, verbal or physical, that demean or that marginalise another will not be tolerated.

If you feel that someone is behaving in a disrespectful way or that you or another participant’s experience was negatively affected, voice your concerns to a volunteer in the “Red Tent” trailer, located near the tipis near the main entrance of Voyageur Park. Do so as soon as possible so that the situation may be dealt with in a timely manner.

You are part of a very diverse public and we ask that you be considerate to those around you and our team of volunteers during your visit to the festival. Let’s support one another and let’s continue to ensure that our community is inclusive and respectful.

In addition, it is important to remember that the festival sites are subject to provincial and federal laws. Please respect the work of police officers as well as our volunteers and security staff to keep the Festival du Voyageur community safe.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited inside all tents and within Fort Gibraltar walls and cabins. Please be respectful of those around you when smoking.

Recycling

Thank you for respecting the environment and helping us maintain the Festival du Voyageur sites clean by recycling your cans and other recyclable waste. Recycling bins courtesy of Recycle Everywhere will be available for your convenience.
