The beards will be front and centre during the 35th Beard Growing Contest. This year participants are competing in one of five categories: the Festival Beard category (participants were clean shaven on December 15 and 16 and have grown their beards since), the Voyageur Beard category (wild and woolly), the Novelty category (groomed mustache or beard), the Open category (contestants create and wear their own beards) as well as the Frosty Beard Face category (Contestants are asked to take a picture of their frosty winter beard and hashtag #FrostyHEHO for a chance to be crowned as the Frostiest Face in Winnipeg). A special celebration for all the skaters, bikers, walkers, runners and skiers who use the trail as part of their morning commute and also for all the folks who just like to celebrate a Winnipeg winter. We will be giving away hot chocolate and trail tails plus selling a variety of different breakfast food options. There will also be entertainment, prize draws and give aways plus displays from a variety of community groups and events.

New this year at Festival du Voyageur is the Wood Carving Challenge presented in partnership with the Winnipeg River Chainsaw Carving Association.

7 internationally renowned sculptors, including two stars of HGTV’s Carver Kings and OLN’s Sawdogs, will gather at Voyageur Park and rev up their chainsaws to sculpt spectacular works of art.

From February 18 to 20, 2017, the teams will create large pieces which will then be sold during an online auction. Click here for all the details and to bid during the online auction.

Fierté d’hiver is a Winter Pride Celebration for Winnipeg’s LGBTQ community!

Two-Spirited People of Manitoba will start the celebration with a traditional drum song and welcoming invocation, followed by a performance by Rylee Sandberg, a 7-year-old Anishinabe, Cree and Metis hoop dancer.

Plus, ROOM SERVICE Winnipeg has lined up a night of entertainment featuring Local DJ’s, a drag show performance by Lita Takeela!

Everyone is welcome to attend!

    It’s a race. In a canoe. In February! This race is held on a snow-packed 200-meter course.     The Union nationale métisse Saint-Joseph of Manitoba founded in 1887, invites you to take part in a Métis flag procession in honour of their 130th anniversary as well as to pay homage to Louis Riel, founding father of Manitoba.

    The procession will start at the park entrance, near the large snow sculpture.

    The more the merrier and wear you traditional Métis clothing including your “ceinture fléchée”!

February 25, the teams will take part in the Quick Carve Challenge. Each team will have two hours to carve a small sculpture.
